Not sure on the plastic quality for shapeways, but if you're looking to fix the original piece, you may try Hot Stuff. It's a very strong liquid cement used for assembling miniatures (Warhammer) and I'll admit to using it to effect some minor repairs to household appliances, toys, etc...
