from looking at the part, not sure shapeways will help, wsf material will likely not do that gear top justice. and depending on how it fits into the entire assembly, redesigning the part might be impossible or at least require modding of the parts to accomidate.
(thinks) but if the same part from the other side is Identical. well might be possible to recast it in a stronger material that will be less prone to breaking like that.
btw, that IS fixable depending on the state of the break etc, but just from the pic it looks like it could be repaired and useable, though i wouldn't roughhousing it after repair.
