All in Photoshop 6. Just layered pieces with imported muzzle flashes, smoke and mist as 'screen' mode overlays, then tweaked to suit the shot.
As mentioned above, if you don't have Photoshop, the latest version of downloadable Gimp2.0 will easily handle all this and much more. It's roughly equivalent to CS2 now (aka Photoshop 10-ish). Any Youtube tutorials would apply to the toolsets etc. in Gimp.
