hmm.. not sure what other figures that you've been getting, but balljoints have never gone away.
The few Cyberverse figures that I have, which are deluxes and priced the same as the mainline are balljoints.
And considering that almost every newer figures I've got that were hinged joints, were loose as hell and that I've had to fix (floor polish) just about every one of them, doesn't really mean that they are "better", if anything, most times, the balljoints have a better range of motion anyways.
