Re: g1 metroplex question for all you experts
A lot of 1986-1987 Transfromers due to being original molds made/engineered by modern Hasbro/Takara (Instead of it being like 1984-85 which was ported molds engineered from the late 70s), a lot of "trail and error" went about. Many toys have either metal or plastic chests or feet (From Hot Rod to Combiner Team/Scamble City parts). Others have either rubber or plastic tires (Like Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime, Metroplex, ect). Some have the rub signs, some don't (Scattershot, Lightspeed, ect).
Are they cheaping out? Somewhat, for the first time Hasbro had to engineer these toys instead of just rereleasing old toys and keep in mind, this was also before the days of REPAINTS to make back costs.
