g1 metroplex question for all you experts

hi to all members-this i my first post so i figured lets make it interesting for all you heavyweights

i have three g1 metroplex figures
one is a rubber tire original which i purchased myself in the 80's with severe sun damage (shame on me)
one is a g1 rubber tire and one is a g1 plastic tire which i purchased recently as replacements on kijiji
all 3 have the same markings (hasbro/takara- 1985-japan)
none of these 2 i recently purchased appear to be knockoffs but i spotted a difference between them and my original which i can't explain

if you look at the garage in his chest you will see that there is a reinforcement in the plastic walls at the top left which is not there in my original- also my original has a metal tab on the right where the connection to the center torso is, which the other two do not have
the plastic reinforcement does not allow scamper to fit in the garage with arms attached on top meanwhile scamper fits with his arms attached into my original metroplex garage

aside from these differences they seem to be the same minus the plastic wheels and chrome differences

let the brainstorming begin
i will try to download pics-need to figure out how
help would be appreciated

you gotta remember, alot of the later waves of g1 all went through the "cheaping out" phase.alot of stuff was changed whether it be paint or mold or part wise.
i never noticed the changed inner chambers on metroplex's chest cavity, but i do know the expensive harder to find 1st version has rubber wheels and actual chrome plated thighs, whereas the more common second "cheaper" release had plastic wheels and chrome stickers for his thighs.
nice find on the remolded cavity!(when i get some time to dig out my original, now i want to check out his cavity too:D)

A lot of 1986-1987 Transfromers due to being original molds made/engineered by modern Hasbro/Takara (Instead of it being like 1984-85 which was ported molds engineered from the late 70s), a lot of "trail and error" went about. Many toys have either metal or plastic chests or feet (From Hot Rod to Combiner Team/Scamble City parts). Others have either rubber or plastic tires (Like Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime, Metroplex, ect). Some have the rub signs, some don't (Scattershot, Lightspeed, ect).

Are they cheaping out? Somewhat, for the first time Hasbro had to engineer these toys instead of just rereleasing old toys and keep in mind, this was also before the days of REPAINTS to make back costs.

I got Metroplex with chrome tighs and rubber tire but he doesn't have that support strut (or sun damage...).

Though I don't think mine ever came with Scamper o.o I had a Wheelie I always thought it was what came with Metroplex. I don't know how that happened.
