IPTV

Has anyone gone this route for your TV needs? I'm seeing signs pop up in my area but dont know how good and safe they are. I have zero cable at the moment but would like some basic channels without paying the premium prices from major cable providers.

I do have an unlmited 28MBit internet connection right now but my concern is I'll get lots of buffering or freezing if somebody else is simultaneously accessing my home network too on other devices, for example, use their iPad, phone, download a movie, etc...

My guess is these are just those Android TV boxes I'm hearing about?

Thanks,
Multi

I've been looking into this over the past year myself and so far I've discovered that a few companies offer iptv services (Vmedia, Zazeen and Bell) but you must subscribe to their internet service.

As for the android boxes, they run either XBMC or KODI and have addons preinstalled that give you access to files in China and Russia that you can stream. My brother has one an it works pretty good but since the files are hosted non-legally they could be there one day and not the next.

Yah I used to do the FTA Satellite thing a while back until they killed it. Now everything is IKS or streaming. Antenna sounds interesting, I actually have a big one. I might just try it out since the cable from the old satellite is still out there

If you have a big antenna thats even better.

Here's another website then, it has a link for searching channels in your area

Well from what I have read the internet provider had to be approved by the crtc to offer the service. My guess is it's probably grey market but Bell or Rogers could pressure the crtc to make it black market (and rendered inoperable).

If you sign up i'd use a prepaid credit card.

You might have some luck with an HDTV antenna since you're not too far from Toronto.

Re: IPTV

Lol nice the first one's an old Yagi antenna. You are correct the new antenna's are updated versions of the old. Since all canadian broadcasters have switched to digital transmission you need an updated version to be able pick up the digital signal (and a digital tuner which all modern tv's have).
