When don't you got a few projects on the go at once Otis?! :P
I'm actually gonna take a stab at a semi-customization...gonna be built off Cyclonus for a friends birthday.
Also putting the finishing touches on my ROTF Optimus Prime. That looks spectacular now but I know its nothing special since everyone seems to be doing it...it''s like a repaint drug :P

So, I've never done a custom before, I'm trying for my first one, Animated Bumblebee, except I cant get his tires off/ hinge pins out. Is there a trick to this? Sorry if this is a really dumb question!

Those pegs in the tires can be a bitch. They are a interference fit which means the pin in is bigger than the hole and they have small barbs like a fish hook to hold them in. I've found prying usually leaves marks on the plastic and can sometimes crack. It's best to pry from one side a bit then the other. You want the peg to come out straight and not at an angle. If one side somes a little move to the other and work it out slowly. You can boil the parts in water to soften the pastic, I've heard that works well. I would not let the plastic touch the bottom of the pot tho.
As for the pins they need to be hammered out. I use a a small 1/4 drive socket as an anvil and support the bottom edge of the hinge. With the pin centered into the middle of the socket. Use a small flatblade screwdriver as a punch and drive the pin down in to the socket. Some are easy to remove others cannot be removed.

Well, I managed okay with some of the pins, thats a tricky feat to pull off. Unfortunately I got a little overconfident and tried with too many and wrecked it. I used a soldering pen to heat up the pins for about 45 seconds, and then they hammered out cleaner, and the tires pulled off pretty easy. Downside was that I had to be very steady, I definitely wrecked some of the plastic doing all that heating. Then I tried to take on of the pins out that helf the back "wings" and it was barbed in the middle, not the end. and ultimately it just wrecked all the plastic around it. I'm on my second bumblebee now.
